Mid-afternoon run up Boulder's Green Mountain. I knew my legs weren't fully recovered from the San Juan Solstice 50, but wanted to see where how things felt.
Things certainly didn't feel great.
I was moving pretty slow up Gregory, but got into a nice groove on Ranger as I consciously worked on two-step breathing, which worked well given the grade on this section. Hit the four-way in 37:40 and pretty much just walked it in from there. Tagged the summit marker in 41:39.
I paused on the summit and took in the view for a minute or two before heading back down the way I came up. I took it way easy on the descent. My quads weren't screaming at me, but they did feel very delicate and tired. Made the return in a sloth-like 29:43.
Was nice to be running again after a few days off, but it clearly will be several more days before the legs have any pep.
Good to see you Jim. You looked good when I saw you on upper Gregory.
